Gibraltar is a British dependency at the southernmost tip of the Iberian Peninsula, easily reached in just over 2 hours (flying time) from London, Bristol or Manchester airports. The post is based at the new state of the art St Bernard’s Hospital built in 2005, located by the waterfront, overlooking the straits of Gibraltar and Northern Africa. The area is perfect for those wishing to explore Southern Spain, Portugal and North Africa.

The Gibraltar Health Service is organised and modelled on UK NHS and follows traditions of British medical practice. Upon commencement of the post, applicants must be registered with the UK General Medicine Council.

Applications are invited for the above mentioned post, for commencement ASAP. This appointment will be for a period of 1 year initially, renewable by mutual agreement.

Applicants should have a wide range of experience in Emergency Medicine. ALS, ETC, ATLS, EPLS, or MIMMS is desirable. Any postgraduate qualification would be advantageous. Non-Consultant Hospital Doctors in A & E work on a full shift pattern and are responsible to the consultant in A&E. The total value of salary package is up to £88,248. This is dependent on years of reckonable service as a Senior House Officer or equivalent and inclusive of an out of hours’ supplement. Income tax rates in Gibraltar compare very favourably with the European average. Return economy class air-fares from the UK are payable in full. In addition, a rented accommodation allowance of between £800 and £1200, dependant on family composition, is payable, solely whilst on a fixed term contract and upon submission of an official rental agreement.

Non-EU nationals should note that a Schengen Visa is required in order to be able to transit through Europe. This is obtained from the applicant’s place of residence. Please note that Schengen Visas cannot be obtained through Gibraltar.
